The Academic Seminar on “Zhuang Fuling and the Founding, Expansion, and Deepening of the Discipline of History of Marxist Philosophy” was Successfully Held

On December 3rd, the academic seminar on “Zhuang Fuling and the Founding, Expansion, and Deepening of the Discipline of History of Marxist Philosophy” was successfully held in the first conference room of the Yifu Conference Center at Renmin University of China. This academic seminar is hosted by School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China and Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy. The attending experts and scholars centered around the theme of the conference and discussed the development of the History of Marxist Philosophy, recalling the outstanding contributions made by Mr. Zhuang Fuling to the construction of the discipline, and expressing their deep condolences to him on the occasion of the 95thanniversary of his birth. Professor Qi Pengfei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Renmin University of China, Professor Hao Lixin, President of the Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, and Mr. Zhuang Zhiqiang, son of Mr. Zhuang Fuling, attended the meeting and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Xi Ge, Dean of School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China.

Deputy Secretary Qi Pengfei, on behalf of Renmin University of China, congratulated the conference and expressed gratitude to experts and scholars present. He stated that Mr. Zhuang Fuling is an Honorary First Class Professor of Renmin University of China, a renowned Marxist philosopher, theorist, and educator, and the founder and pioneer of the discipline of History of Marxist Philosophy and History of Marxist Development. As emphasized in General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech during his investigation at Renmin University of China, cultivating socialist builders and successors urgently requires our teachers to be proficient in professional knowledge, be good at being “classics teachers”, cultivate morality, and become “human teachers”, striving to be the unity of “classics teachers” and “human teachers” who are proficient in “preaching, teaching, and solving doubts”. Mr. Zhuang Fuling is an outstanding representative who combines “classics teacher” and “human teacher”. Mr. Zhuang Fuling devoted his entire life to Renmin University of China, the discipline of History of Marxist Philosophy, and Chinese Society of the History of Marxist Philosophy. He devoted all his wisdom, strength, and hard work to the teaching and research of Marxism, making him an admirable senior scholar. On the occasion of the publication of all ten volumes of The History of Marxist Development, the academic seminar on “Zhuang Fuling and the Founding, Expansion, and Deepening of the Discipline of History of Marxist Philosophy” is not only the remembrance of Mr. Zhuang Fuling, but also a comprehensive summary, sorting, and review of his academic contributions and social influence. It has important guiding significance for the development of the discipline.

President Hao Lixin, on behalf of all members of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, pays high tribute to Mr. Zhuang Fuling for his tremendous contributions to the society over the past few decades, and expresses deep condolences to him. He pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling laid a solid foundation for the compilation of The History of Marxist Development (ten volume edition), and made historic contributions to the foundation of the development history of Marxism and the history of Marxist philosophy. He also made great contributions to the cultivation of talents in the discipline of History of Marxist Philosophy. The convening of the academic seminar is not only to express deep nostalgia for Mr. Zhuang Fuling, but also to inherit his academic spirit and research methods, and continuously open up the future in disciplinary construction.

Mr. Zhuang Zhiqiang expressed gratitude to School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China and Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy for convening this academic seminar. On behalf of Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s family, he expressed gratitude and greetings to leaders, experts and scholars attending the conference. He reviewed Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s life and academic career from the perspective of his family. He said that for his family, Mr. Zhuang Fuling is a responsible husband and father; academically speaking, Mr. Zhuang Fuling only did one thing throughout his life, persistently focusing on the construction and development of the discipline of the History of Marxist Philosophy and the History of Marxist Development. From the perspective of a philosopher, he was inclusive and planned for the long term, which is worthy of our future generations to learn and remember forever.

During the opening ceremony, Dean Xi Ge pointed out that the purpose of this academic seminar is to commemorate Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s experiences and deeds in both human and academic life, and to explore his academic contributions to the history of Marxist philosophy and the development of Marxism. At the same time, we should continuously promote and expand the research on the history of Marxist philosophy,advance the innovation of knowledge, theory, and methods in the discipline, andanswer questions of China, the world, the people, and the times with the development of the discipline. School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, is willing to work with relevant societies and institutions to contribute to the construction of China’s independent knowledge system.

After the opening ceremony, the speech section of the conference started. The speech at the conference was divided into four sessions, presided over by Zhu Yan, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China; Professor Tao Wenzhao, Deputy Dean of School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China; Nie Jinfang, Professor of Department of Philosophy, Peking University and Vice President of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy; Hou Yanshe, Professor of School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China.

Professor Yang Ruisen, former Director of Social Affairs Department of Ministry of Education, discussed the deepening of the development of the discipline of History of Marxist philosophy in The History of Marxist Development (ten volume edition). He pointed out that the book series is an important achievement initiated and invested by Mr. Zhuang Fuling during his lifetime. The process has five features: early initiation time, large number of participants, large scale of involvement, high theoretical difficulty, and long duration. The book series explores the philosophical interpretation of the Party’s innovative theory, and the study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, especially its philosophical ideas, is of great significance. He believed that Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is the concentrated embodiment of the fine tradition and special skills of the CPC in the new era of “learning philosophy and using philosophy”. He elaborated in detail on the philosophical ideas embodied in the people-centered theory, the unity of knowledge and action, the scientific methodology, and “the Establishment of the Two”.

Li Minsheng, a researcher at Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and former Secretary-General of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, reviewed his more than ten years of communication experience with Mr. Zhuang Fuling and pointed out that it is necessary to understand the “Two Combinations” from the strategic perspective. The History of Marxist Development (ten volume edition) fully demonstrates the “Two Combinations”. In the process of promoting the “Second Combination”, we will face many specific problems. We must inherit Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s keen vision and high political consciousness, and do research work with high quality.

Liang Shufa, Professor of School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, and Honorary President of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, stated that Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s academic path has been expanded in three aspects: first is the expansion of the research from the dissemination history of Chinese Marxist philosophy to the formation and development of Marxist philosophy; second is the expansion from the study of the history of Mao Zedong Thought to the study of the sinicization of Marxism; The third is the expansion from the study of the history of Marxist philosophy to the study of the development history of Marxism. Mr. Zhuang Fuling adheres to a scientific Marxist historical perspective in the study of the history of Marxist philosophy and the development of Marxism, which is particularly reflected in his unique approach to dividing the stages of Marxist development into four stages: foundation laying, exploration, development, and innovation. Mr. Zhuang Fuling has a conscious awareness of academic community, and has contributed his lifelong efforts to the establishment and development of History of Marxism-Leninism DevelopmentResearch Institute, Renmin University of China, and Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, compilation of textbooks of Marxist philosophy history , as well as the compilation of The History of Marxist Philosophy (eight volume edition), The History of Marxism (four volume edition), The History of Marxist Development (ten volume edition) and other academic community practices. We should inherit and carry forward Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s excellent academic character.

Wang Dong, Professor of Department of Philosophy, Peking University and President of Leninist Philosophical Thought Research Branch of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, gave a speech titled “Academic Foundation of the Marxist ‘Four Histories’ Discipline System-- a New Discussion on Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s Theoretical Contributions and Historical Status”, pointing out that this conference aims to elevate the understanding of Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s academic status to a new level. He pointed out that the evaluation of Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s theoretical status should be based on the theoretical creation and academic foundation of the “Four Historical Systems” of the history Marxist philosophy, Marxist development, Marxist sinicization, and Marxist dissemination. From perspectives the theoretical entrustment of Mr. Zhuang Fuling in his later years, the two stages of academic thought development, the author’s introduction, preface, title structure, appendix, postscript and other aspects of Selected Works of Zhuang Fuling, he pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling is a new generation of academic masters created by the CPC and the new China, and a great master of contemporary Marxist academia.

Feng Ziyi, Professor of Department of Philosophy, Peking University and former Vice President of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, elaborated on Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s academic contributions from two perspectives: the compilation of textbooks for the history of Marxist philosophy and the establishment of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy. He believes that Mr. Zhuang Fuling is not only a good scholar, but also a conductor and leader with great manners. Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s summary of “unity, dedication, and democracy” of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy is also a reflection of his personal character as a scholar. He pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling is not only a great gentleman and a good teacher, with rigorous academic research, but also cares about and supports the cultivation of young scholars. He has a strong sense of teaching and is worthy of our learning and nostalgia.

An Qinian, Professor of School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China, pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling not only devoted himself to research, but also organized a team to unite and cultivate a large number of people. He expressed praise for Mr. Zhuang Fuling for not shouting slogans, conducting solid research, adhering to and developing the discipline of History of Marxist philosophy, based on his personal experience. He pointed out that Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era not only solves domestic problems, but also cares about the development of human society. We should inherit Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s serious academic attitude. While adhering to Marxism, we should deepen and expand Marxism, and make contributions to the development of human civilization.

Han Qingxiang, Professor of Party School of the Centeral Committee of C.P.C (National Academy of Governance) and President of the 21st Century Marxist Research Branch of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling is the founder of the discipline of Marxist philosophy history, a leading figure, and a benchmark. He discussed the methodology of the history of Marxist philosophy research from six dimensions: historical perspective, respect for historical facts, historical experience, historical laws, integration of historical theory, and promotion of innovation in the development history of philosophy and social sciences. He emphasized the need to fully study the academic characteristics of Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s adherence to the materialist conception of history, firm Marxist stance, and problem awareness. He also paid tribute to Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s noble academic sentiment of dedicating his life’s energy to the construction and development of the discipline of Marxist philosophy.

Xu Junzhong, Vice President of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, Professor of Department of Philosophy, Sun Yat-sen University, pointed out that the discipline of History of Marxist Philosophy in China, from scratch to today, had a broad perspective on the richness of disciplinary development, the maturity of team growth, and the abundance of achievements presented. All of this is the fruit of the hard work and careful cultivation of our predecessors and scholars. The discipline of History of Marxist philosophy in China has generally developed together with the country’s reform and opening up. Early work was inseparable from the academic accumulation and hard work of a large number of teachers such as Huang Nansen, Shi Defu, Zhuang Fuling, Sun Bochen, Liu Rong, Gao Qiyun, and Ye Ruxian. Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s elegance, wisdom, open-mindedness, as well as his ability to handle major theoretical and academic challenges, are worthy of our eternal learning.

Wang Lisheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Vice President of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, pointed out that the publication of The History of Marxist Development (ten volume edition) helps to enhance our understanding of “Two Combinations”. He summarized the problems of “each having its own beauty”, the fragmentation of “Two Combinations”, “cultural revivalism”, “cultural determinism”, etc. in today’s understanding of “Two Combinations”, and pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s research helps deepen our understanding of “Two Combinations” and clarify erroneous views.

Xu Zhihong, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Capital Normal University and former Professor of School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, recalled his experience of communication with Mr. Zhuang Fuling and expressed his deep admiration for him. He stated that he wanted to integrate Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s spirit into his own research and the cultivation of students, striving to achieve educational results and cultivate a group of students with significant achievements in the discipline field.

Xun Zhongjian, former Director of Marxism-Leninism Works Editing Office, People’s Publishing House, reviewed his experience with Mr. Zhuang Fuling and expressed his deep condolences to him. He emphasized that Mr. Zhuang Fuling has always adhered to the holistic study of Marxist history, but it is not simply the aggregation of three components of Marxist philosophy, political economy, and scientific socialism, but rather the examination of Marxism as a whole. Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s research on the development history of Marxism has gone through a developmental process. In addition, Mr. Zhuang Fuling actively combines reality and continuously promotes the study of Marxist history.

Professor Zeng Zhisheng from the School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, reviewed his interaction experience with Mr. Zhuang Fuling. He pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling worked diligently and devoted all his energy to the study of the history of Marxist philosophy. Before his retirement, he had been recruiting doctoral students and actively participated in the work of the doctoral guidance group, participating in the formulation of the teaching syllabus, personally teaching, and receiving praise from teachers and students. He believes that learning from Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s firm Marxist stance is particularly important for the younger generation. Currently, China is facing the problem of ideological infiltration from Western countries, and it is necessary to educate young people to firmly adhere to the Marxist stance and resolutely resist erroneous ideologies.

Professor Xue Guangzhou from Party School of the Centeral Committee of C.P.C (National Academy of Governance) gave a speech titled “Unforgettable Teacher’s Grace, Faraway Journey”. He pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling was the founder of the discipline of History of Marxist philosophy in China, and made pioneering contributions to the initiation and promotion of the discipline: first is the initiation and foundation of the research on Chinese Marxist philosophy. He started with Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s three works and pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling always believed that studying the history of Chinese Marxist philosophy requires studying the history of Mao Zedong’s philosophical thought; second is to promote the initiation and foundation of contemporary Chinese Marxist research. He combined Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s recommendations for his three works to explore his promotion and deepening of contemporary Chinese philosophical research. Contemporary Chinese philosophy should be themed around understanding and building socialism; more research should be conducted on the impact of the development of science and technology on human thinking; we should pay attention to the contemporary world, focus on the themes of peace and development, and provide a worldview and methodology for humanity to correctly understand and solve universal problems in the world. This cannot be accomplished in the study, but rather through exploration and deepening in the great practice of the new era.

Professor Liu Linlin, Dean of School of Philosophy and Social Development, Shandong University, recalled his past experiences with Mr. Zhuang Fuling and talked about the encouragement and guidance he received under his guidance. He pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling always maintained an open-minded attitude towards students and encouraged them to actively innovate. He combined his reinterpretation of German classical philosophy to elucidate his new understanding of Schelling’s philosophy and its impact on Marx and Engels, aiming to express his condolences and remembrance for Mr. Zhuang Fuling.

Professor Zang Fengyu, Dean of School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China, pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s works have always been a mandatory reading list for doctoral students. Mr. Zhuang Fuling has a profound and insightful mind, and a few words of his advice often inspire people greatly. He emphasized that Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s advocated “integration of history and theory” reveals the relationship between Marxist philosophical principles and the history of Marxist philosophy, which is clearly reflected in the compilation of The History of Marxist Development (ten volume edition). He emphasized that while studying the development history of Marxist philosophy, Mr. Zhuang Fuling also paid special attention to the study of contemporary Chinese Marxism, providing us with very important methodological insights for today’s study of contemporary Chinese Marxism.

Researcher Li Junwen from Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences gave a speech entitled “Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s Research and Contribution to the History of Marxist Philosophy”. She believes that Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s contributions are mainly reflected in three aspects: firstly, he opened a new chapter in the construction of the discipline of History of Marxist philosophy; second is to deepen the research on the history of Marxist philosophy and Chinese Marxist philosophy with a problem consciousness that combines historical theory and faces reality; third is to prepare and establish Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, actively deploy and build academic platforms, and promote talent development. Today, Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy has become a national social organization. This academic platform has effectively promoted the teaching and research level of the history of Marxist philosophy in China, and has also formed a research team that inherits the past and ushers in the future. It has contributed scholars’ ideological strength to Chinese path to modernization.

Bi Yuhui, Editor and Reviewer of People’s Publishing House, pointed out that during the writing process of The History of Marxist Development (ten volume edition), Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s thoughts have always inspired us and are the driving force for us to overcome difficulties and strive forward. Mr. Zhuang Fuling is a philosopher, theorist, and educator, whose research achievements have established his position as a famous philosopher. As a theorist, Mr. Zhuang Fuling has experienced an expansion from the history of Marxist philosophy to the study of the history of Marxist development. The development history of Marxism is a comprehensive history of Marxism, as well as a history of theory and practice. We must inherit Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s lifelong mission and continuously promote the development of Marxism.

Professor Zhang Xin from School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, pointed out that one of Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s contributions was to explore the discipline of the History of Marxist Development. We must carefully summarize Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s important thoughts on the development history of Marxism, as well as his academic achievements and contributions. Mr. Zhuang Fuling attached great importance to a holistic research method in the process of studying the development history of Marxism, which not only involves philosophy, but also various fields such as economics and scientific socialism. This is not only an important summary of Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s research experience on the development history of Marxism, but also something we need to pay attention to in today’s research. Today, when we study the original contribution of “Two Combinations”, we must also stand on the basis of a comprehensive study of the development history of Marxism with Chinese characteristics, and grasp it comprehensively.

Wei Xiaoping, a researcher at Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, former Vice President of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, pointed out that there are two important aspects worth continuously exploring in advancing the research of the history of Marxist philosophy: the first aspect is how to combine “practical practice”, “policies and guidelines of the ruling Party”, and “the reflective function of philosophy” in the writing process of the history of Marxist philosophy; the second aspect is that in the discipline construction and talent cultivation process of Marxist philosophy, emphasis should be placed on cultivating general history talents, so that students can comprehensively grasp the basic and core viewpoints of Marxist theory on this basis. The practical problems encountered by the Party in over a hundred years of historical practice and the Party’s policies can form a consistent logical thinking.

Researcher Yang Kui, Vice President of Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling opened up two doors for me: first is the door to being a good person. Mr. Zhuang Fuling is humble and candid. Whether in good or bad times, hemaintained a calm heart in both favor and disgrace, which is worth our learning;second is the door to learning. Mr. Zhuang Fuling emphasized the need to unify Marxist beliefs and theoretical research work in terms of stance; we must adhere to the philosophical thinking of combining history and theory in our viewpoints; in terms of methodology, theory must care about reality, and academia should learn to give advice to leaders. To conduct practical investigations, don’t be afraid of hardship. Philosophical research must be exposed to reality, identify problems, investigate clearly, and be elevated to the perspective of teaching for analysis.

Professor Zhang Lin from Party School of the Centeral Committee of C.P.C pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling is not only a serious teacher in the classroom, but also a cautious philosopher in the study, and a benevolent elder in daily life. Today, we can deepen our exploration of how to inherit and promote the development history of Marxism from three aspects: firstly, the sorting out of academic history itself is a continuous process of progression, development, and improvement; secondly, we cannot ignore the research on the development history of Chinese Marxist philosophy; thirdly, we cannot ignore the works and research of non-philosophical Marxist theorists and thinkers.

Professor Hou Yanshe from School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling not only has a comprehensive understanding of the Four Histories and a macro theoretical perspective, but also stands at the height of the development of the Party and the state’s ideological theory and disciplinary construction. He is committed to the academic cause, truly integrating life and academia, and is undoubtedly a master. He recalled several past experiences with Mr. Zhuang Fuling and pointed out that he was undoubtedly a role model for teachers. He finally shared Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s insightful discourse on deepening the development history of Marxism from the perspective of academic research.

Professor Liu Zhaofeng, Deputy Dean of School of Marxism, Zhejiang University, recalled the life of Mr. Zhuang Fuling and mentioned that he had instructed him before his death to study the philosophical thought of On Capital, which is very meaningful and should be continued. Around Marx’s critical theory of fetishism, he introduced his research experience of On Capital at the meeting, in memory of Mr. Zhuang Fuling.

Professor Qian Xuemin from School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, and Deputy Editor of China Radio International, Li Zhongshang, respectively submitted written speeches to the conference titled “Gratitude and Remembrance” and “The History of Marxist Philosophy and Zhuang Fuling”, reviewing their learning and working experiences with Mr. Zhuang Fuling and expressing gratitude and remembrance for him.

Professor Nie Jinfang from Department of Philosophy, Peking University and Vice President of Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s important contribution lies in expanding the study of the history of Marxist philosophy (internal history) to the study of the development history of Marxism (external history), and elaborating on the new content of the combination of history and theory. The publication of The History of Marxist Development (ten volume edition) marks the advancement and expansion of Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s research in the new era. Mr. Zhuang Fuling was the first generation of scholars trained in New China. Today, when we study Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s ideas, we must place them within the framework of the changes and theoretical development of the 20th century.

Associate Professor Xie Hesheng from School of Marxism, University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, combined with his own personal experience, explained Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s broad mindedness, gentle and tolerant demeanor, and expressed his profound nostalgia for him.

Professor Zheng Wei from School of Philosophy, Beijing Normal University shared some insights. He pointed out that Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s academic attitude is complementary to Renmin University of China’s respect for knowledge and talent. The development history of Marxism is not only a logical presentation or problem sorting of the development of Marxist thought, but also a profound summary, logical revelation, and future outlook of the latest achievements of Marxism since the reform and opening up. The History of Marxist Development (ten volume edition) provides a reference for breaking away from the Soviet textbook model and is also the construction of a systematic discipline of the History of Marxist Development. We should pay attention to the relationship between generative logic and innovative achievements, the relationship between text and historical background, and adhere to a holistic perspective in our research.

Professor Wang Jinlei from School of Marxism, Minzu University of China, recalled Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s life and the profound teacher-student relationship contained in it, and discussed some of his academic views based on “Two Combinations”. He pointed out that “the Second Combination” requires connecting the essence of Marxist thought with the essence of Chinese excellent traditional culture, which is an original statement. This original contribution is based on the enrichment, development, and innovation of Comrade Mao Zedong’s proposal to build a “national, scientific, and popular culture”.

Professor Liu Hongyuan, Deputy Dean of School of Marxism, University of International Business and Economics, expressed his views based on Selected Works of Zhuang Fuling. He stated that it reflects Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s profound sense of historical responsibility, distinctive academic problem awareness, and deep concern for reality. He also shared his interactions with Mr. Zhuang Fuling and pointed out that he has a brilliant educational philosophy and methods, and is a master worthy of admiration.

Professor Zhu Zhongxiao, Director of Basic Courses Department, Huaide College, Changzhou University, reviewed the process of interacting with Mr. Zhuang Fuling based on his personal learning and work experience, including Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s guidance on his doctoral thesis. He believes that from these small things, it can be seen that Mr. Zhuang Fuling has a broad educational mindset.

Professor Gao Huifang from School of Marxism, Beijing Union University is a student of Mr. Zhuang Fuling. She recalled Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s guidance and cultivation, and expressed her remembrance and longing for him. She said that Mr. Zhuang Fuling often said that any theory should start with historical facts, which reflects his valuable theoretical qualities as a Marxist philosopher and historian, and also inspires her to continue moving forward. Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s research method of thinking about problems from multiple perspectives and perspectives is also worth learning from. She recalled little moments she spent with Mr. Zhuang Fuling and expressed that under the care and cultivation of her teacher, she chose to become a glorious ideological and political teacher. In her future research and teaching career, she would always bear in mind the teachings of her mentor, continue to work hard, and live up to her mentor’s expectations.

Professor Huang Jifeng from School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, recalled the past of studying and working with Mr. Zhuang Fuling. He expressed his intention to inherit Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s important methods in the study of the development history of Marxism and the history of Marxist philosophy, including the unity of theory and practice, a holistic consciousness, and a realistic approach. He earnestly studied Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s rigorous academic spirit and his open and innovative attitude towards learning.

Professor Zhao Yulan from School of Marxism Studies, Renmin University of China, also gave a speech as a representative of Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s successor disciples. She expressed that it is an honor and a great emotion to attend today’s meeting. Mr. Zhuang Fuling is not only the founder of the discipline of History of Marxist philosophy, with outstanding academic contributions, but is also very concerned about students. As successor disciples of Mr. Zhuang Fuling, we must double our efforts, inherit his spirit, and further deepen our research based on his ideological foundation.

Representatives from Chinese Society for the History of Marxist Philosophy, teachers from closely connected universities, Mr. Zhuang Fuling’s faculty, and teachers and students from School of Marxism Studies at Renmin University of China attended this academic seminar.
